In the historic heart of the medina of Marrakech, not far from the bustling Jamea El Fena square, Riad Les Remparts de La Kasbah is located in the bewitching Kasbah district which is approachable by crossing the ramparts of the old medina.
It is in this spirit that it bears its name: The ramparts of the Kasbah. Chic and quiet area near the Bahia and Badi palaces, the Riad will give you access to the various cultural sites and monuments of the medina.

Important Travel Info for Morocco

Visas are not required for US travelers for stays less than 90 days

Booking your flight

  • Participants can fly into the Marrakech Menara Airport in Marrakech

  • Most participants book their flights individually, if you would like to coordinate your flight with other attendees please let us know and we will help to facilitate.

Local Customs

  • Moroccan dress customs emphasize modesty, though there is no legally enforced code. Local women typically cover their shoulders, chest, and knees.

  • While tourists are not required to dress like locals, wearing loose-fitting, respectful clothing—such as long skirts, tunics, or pants—is highly recommended to avoid unwanted attention and respect cultural norms

Tipping in Morocco

  • Cash can be a preferred payment option

  • Local Currency is the Moroccan Dirham

  • Currency exchange is typically more expensive in the airports. There may be better options closer to our accommodations in Marrakech.

  • Tipping is deeply rooted in Moroccan culture as a gesture of appreciation for service, known locally as "baksheesh". While not mandatory, it is expected in tourism, with 10% being standard in restaurants and small change (5–10 MAD) for small services, like parking or luggage.

  • Carry small cash in local currency, as tips are vital income.

Tipping Guidelines by Service:

  • Restaurants & Cafes: 10% is standard. In casual spots, rounding up or leaving a few dirhams is acceptable.

  • Guides & Drivers: 100–300 MAD per day for private guides, depending on quality.

  • Taxis: Round up to the nearest 5 or 10 MAD.

  • Hotels/Riads: 10–20 MAD per bag for porters; small daily tip for housekeeping.

  • Small Services: 2–5 MAD for washroom attendants, parking helpers, or fuel attendants
